Joint Summer Program: UNISMA Malang, Indonesia in collaboration with Takushoku University (Japan), Yamaguchi University (Japan), and Bogor Agriculture Institute, Indonesia
OIA UNISMA Malang in collaboration with Agriculture Institute of Bogor (IPB) and the Minister of Research and Higher Education held ‘Joint Summer Program. 17 participants from Prince of Songkhla University (Thailand), Takushoku University (Japan), Yamaguchi University (Japan) and UNISMA Malang joint this program.
Started on 21 August 2017, this Joint Summer Program offers two courses. They are Cultural Course and International Community Engagement (ICE) course. Cultural course is to introduce Indonesian culture by learning how to make batik and tempe. They also learn about Topeng Malangan dance, and the history of Singosari Kingdom. Students also have the opportunity to visit Malang City and Batu City Town Squares (Alun-alun), Jahe Waterfall, and Malang City Municipality Office.
The topic of the International Community Engagement (ICE) course was ‘turning problem into blessing”. The participants did a volunteering activity in Selorejo Lake, Ngantang. They helped the local people to eradicate water hyacinth grown on the lake using motorboat, and processing it become the compost and silage that would be advantageous for the local people farming activities. This program run for about one week and at the end of the program they presented a topic about the course, performed the traditional Japanese dance and Indonesian dance. (NIL)
